Phylogenetic Constitution and Survival of Microbial Biofilms Formed on the Surface of Polyethylene Composites Protected with Polyguanidine Biocides

A series of biocide-containing polyethylene composites were obtained using novel guanidine-containing copolymers immobilized on an inert mineral carrier. Multispecies microbial communities isolated from the surface samples either incubated or found in environment, and their taxonomic composition was determined. Biofilms reconstructed microorganisms different ecotopes shown to intensively foul surfaces. The presence polyguanidine biocide suppressed growth survival both binary multispecies biofilms, with a cumulative effect during long-term incubation.
